Financial Support & Scholarships

The Department of Theatre offers a number of scholarships and financial aid opportunities. Please check our website for the most recent list of programs and deadlines for applications. In addition, Fort Lewis College provides a considerable number of additional programs and opportunities. Please contact the financial aid office for more information.

Native American Tuition Waiver and Tribal Scholarships - Qualified Native American students will be admitted to Fort Lewis College tuition free. They are still responsible for purchasing books, paying college fees, room and board expenses, etc. Click here for more information.

Ertezek Foundation Scholarship - The Ertezek Foundation provides numerous awards each academic year. They are available to newly declared Theatre majors that have shown a high level of scholarship and involvement in theatre productions, and to established Theatre majors that show a financial need, a high level of scholarship, and a dedication to our productions. The monetary awards are determined on a yearly basis.

Performing Arts Scholarship - This award is available to Theatre majors that have at least a 3.00 cumulative Fort Lewis College GPA. The student must be a Colorado resident and be a participant in a number of Fort Lewis College Theatre productions. This scholarship is funded by the Colorado Commission on Higher Education. The amount paid and availability is contingent upon continued funding.

Betty Haskell Scholarship - Betty Haskell has been a supporter of the arts in the Durango area for many years. Students applying for this scholarship must have a minimum 3.00 GPA and a history of active involvement in Fort Lewis College Theatre productions. The number and amount of scholarships are determined on a yearly basis.

MUYSUA - Fall 2006

The Gertrude Brown Fine Arts Scholarship - A foundation scholarship for Art, Music, and Theatre was set up in the winter of 2002 by Gertrude Brown because of her passion for the arts. This scholarship of $1000 will be awarded as determined by the faculty.

 

Lyle Howard Theatre Scholarship - Lyle Howard was a supporter of the theatre, and left an endowment to support theatre students. The amount of this scholarship is determined on a yearly basis. Students applying for this scholarship must be either a junior or a senior Theatre major with a GPA of at least 2.50.

David Berg Scholarship - Students applying for this scholarship must be Theatre majors with a history of active involvement in Fort Lewis College Theatre productions. The amount of this scholarship is determined on a yearly basis.

Work-Study Positions - The Theatre Department also offers work-study positions in costumes, lights, publicity, set construction, scene painting, box office, and office assistance.
